My Nemesis

See this baby? This yawning hole is ALL that's standing between the author and her surgery. Humph! Upper is good to go; no new wire or tweaking at all to be done. BORING. Unfortunately, closing this hole is going to take some time. At the June appointment, we introduced a section of power chain tugging the premolar towards the hook on my wire.

Yesterday Dr. Kaller changed the elastic...but that's it. The SUPER bummer of the situation is that once that premolar is moving, we still have to get the molars behind to also move forward into place........*sigh*.

(In other news: My ring is back, fixed, real and looks brand new............YAY!!!!!!)

This computer I'm on won't let me see your pic, so I can only imagine the 'yawning hole'. Frustrating to be 'almost there' but not quite! I hope the bugger gives into the power chain thingy. One of my gaps closed overnight with a powerchain once..

    And yay! for your ring.

  2. Jeepers. Hurry up already gap! =) Luckily, power chains are in my opinion, the craziest and coolest part of orthodontia. They make things happen!

I'm SOOO glad to hear about your ring. What a relief.

  4. Here's to that gap closing real soon. I've got a mean gap on my upper arch ... sometimes they just don't seem to understand what the need for their movement is all about. Hopefully your's will behave much better than mine and close.

Good luck and fantastic about your ring!

  5. Yay your ring is back in action!!

Boooooo for gaps. Hopefully that powerchain will get it in gear. While I haven't had the pleasure of a power chain yet, I hear amazing things about them.

Crossing my fingers for a quick closure!! (and for those molars to follow).

  7. Hi Katherine!
Do you find youself staring at your ring as when you were first engaged? I was so pleased to read you were able to replace the stone. During the our many long years as a student couple, my husband and I laughed that our only investment & entire future was in our hands. :) Anyway, the photo of your gap is really good. It shows the space in all it's glory. I, too, find it so hard to wait for tooth movement.

And I also wanted to wish you a belated happy birthday. I turned 31in June, and for what it's worth, found 31 waaaay better than 30. More fun, more well-wishing phone calls, and none of the pressure to notice the day - kind a paradoxial celebration.

    regards!

  8. Wowzer,,I dint know anyone else had a "yawning hole" well, I have 2 of those babies, one a little bigger than the other, but I too am suffering the boring challenge of waiting for these babies to move. It seems like its never going to happen (this coming from someone who is sitting here withOUT her rubberbands in...like what the heck am I thinking, they are going to move themselves) anyway..sorry to hear about the ring that really sucks but you know, maybe you have bigger and better rocks coming in the near future. Let me tell ya, I havent had time to get on lately, but when I do, I am always just amazed at your writing talents. I really loved the email that you sent me, it was so uplifting and really made my day, I apologize for falling in the black hole and not being the good blogger that I should be, it is just been so hard lately. I will be back though...and will always be here if you need a shoulder to lean on. Thanks again for being such a great help to all the Ortho Bloggers out there, I always catch your supporting and hilarious comments on others sites...you are a champ and I commend you for your talent and your service to the group! You rock! God Bless
